The Syracuse Orange men’s basketball program added its third member in the class of 2022 as Quadir Copeland announced his decision to play at SU. Copeland, who will enroll at IMG Academy (Florida) this fall, picked Syracuse over Maryland, Miami, Oklahoma State, Oregon and others.
In an Instagram video, Copeland announced his decision which includes a call with Syracuse head coach Jim Boeheim and guard coach Gerry McNamara.
Copeland is listed as a 6-foot-6 combo guard. Originally from Gettysburg, Pa, Copeland is rated No. 140 in his class per 247Sports. Rivals has him the highest as the No. 85 overall recruit in his class.
McNamara offered Copeland last November. He visited the Syracuse campus in late June. SU had originally secured a commitment from Dior Johnson at the guard spot in the class of 2022, but after Johnson decommitted, Syracuse was left in need of at least one backcourt player.
Copeland will join Justin Taylor and Kamari Lands, both forwards, in Syracuse’s 2022 recruiting cycle. The Orange remain in the hunt for top-50 guard and Central New York native J.J. Starling.
