Mikel Brown, the top ranked point guard in the recruiting class of 2025, has signed with Louisville.
The 5-star floor general from Daytona Beach revealed his pledge with an announcement on the big screen during the under-8 timeout in the first half of U of L’s game against North Carolina. Brown committed to Pat Kelsey recently, and during his visit to the Derby City this weekend signed the necessary paperwork to ensure that he’ll be a Cardinal in 2025-26.

Brown becomes the second highest-ranked recruit in the recruiting rankings era to sign with Louisville, behind only big man Samardo Samuels.
Playing his final season of high school ball for DME Academy in Florida, Brown recently scored 50 points in a game, breaking the school record.
Brown Scouting Report
“Mikel Brown, Jr. is a point guard with a huge heart and basketball IQ. Brown has a developed skill set, one that allows him to play with the utmost confidence. He has a slick handle with great footwork, putting the ball in the right spots during a game. Brown is also a smooth shooter with deep and consistent range. His size will bring questions. He needs to add strength, and with that will come more burst and pop. He has an understanding of defensive concepts when it comes to footwork and rotations, but he will need to continue adding strength on that end as well. Brown is poised beyond his years with the ball in his hands and is the type of point guard who makes those around him better offensively.” – On3’s Jamie Shaw
This is a big, big deal. Props to everyone involved who helped make it happen.
