Not great news for FSU's top offensive weapon.
Florida State's injury report today revealed the worst (for the Seminoles): star running back Dalvin Cook will not suit up against the Syracuse Orange this Saturday.
As mentioned by our friends at Tomahawk Nation, Cook suffered a hamstring strain weeks back, and has tweaked his ankle since too. The Tallahassee Democrat's Corey Clark floated the idea yesterday that the team should have him rest so he's at full strength against Clemson the following weekend in a game that'll decide the Atlantic Division. Ends up that desire came true.

Normally, Cook would be replaced by the highly talented Mario Pender as the starting running back for the 'Noles, but with Pender dealing with his own health issue -- a collapsed lung and infection thereafter -- FSU has to go a little further down the depth chart against Syracuse. Jonathan Vickers, who has 47 rushing yards, 33 receiving yards and two scores on the year, is likely to get the lion's share of the carries. Jacques Patrick, who has 12 yards on six carries this year will also see time (one would assume).

Obviously not the greatest news for Florida State, but that doesn't mean the 'Noles are doomed against our Orange ether. The replacements above are also pretty talented. Plus, they have that guy Everett Golson, who we're unfortunately familiar with already...
We'll have to wait and see what happens on Saturday. But even if it's just a minor alteration of the Seminoles gameplan, this should have an impact one way or another.
