Louisville will be without the services of senior captain Lorenzo Mauldin when the Cards face Boston College Saturday night.
Mauldin has been bothered by a persistent hamstring injury the last few weeks, and Bobby Petrino told the media following practice Thursday night that the team's leader in sacks (6.5) and tackles for loss (12.0) will not be able to go against the Eagles.
Joining Mauldin on the sidelines will be nose tackle Pio Vatuvei, who will miss his second straight game because of an elbow injury. Vatuvei has 13 total tackles and four tackles for loss this season.
Losing Lozo's speed off the edge is a pretty big blow going up against a team that has perhaps the best running quarterback in the country. Still, you'd love to have him rested and 100 percent (or close to it) when the team goes to South Bend in two weeks.
Time for some folks to step up.
