The longtime rivals will face-off again in MSG.
It was announced today that the Memphis (State) Tigers will play Louisville in New York on December 16th at Madison Square Garden. The match-up is part of the Gotham Classic tournament that is being put on by the Gazelle Group.
This will be the 90th contest between the two programs, and the last time these two teams have played was during Louisville’s one year stay in the American Athletic Conference. Memphis won both of those meetings against the Cards, but Louisville does hold the series record at 53-36.
So far on the Cardinals non-conference schedule for the upcoming 2017-2018 season, they will host Grand Canyon, Seton Hall, and Indiana, with a road game against rival Kentucky at Rupp Arena. It has not been announced who they will play in the annual ACC-Big Ten Challenge.
This is all assuming Tigers head coach Tubby Smith will still have a team by the time this game rolls around.
