The Louisville football team has paused all team activities indefinitely due to a heightened number of positive Covid-19 tests among the Cardinals’ staff and team members, U of L athletic director Vince Tyra announced on Wednesday.
The team’s scheduled game at Virginia has been postponed and is now tentatively scheduled for next Saturday, Nov. 14, which had been a bye week for Louisville. If all goes well, the game will kick off at 3:30 p.m. and will be televised on the ACC Network.
“We are taking a precautionary measure to pause due the number of student-athletes and staff that have been impacted by the virus,” said Tyra. “With Virginia and us both having a bye week on November 14, we are fortunate to reschedule the game for that date. It also avails us a chance to gauge any further spread of the virus. Test results from both Friday and Sunday will dictate when we return to team activities. We appreciate the ACC and Virginia working with us at this time.”
Well, I suppose you knew something like this was possible after what happened last week, but it’s still a bummer.
Get better, fellas.
