Malik Williams, the four-star power forward who Rick Pitino has made his primary recruiting target in the 2017 recruiting class, committed to U of L on Thursday. He made the announcement on Twitter.
I would like to thank all schools that recruited me but I will be committing to the University of Louisville #L1C4 pic.twitter.com/CDZxEZydc2

Williams is the perfect example of the "pick-and-pop" power forward who can knock down the outside shot that Pitino has spent a solid chunk of the offseason saying he wants to bring to Louisville. Just a couple weeks ago, the 6'11 Fort Wayne native named a final eight of N.C. State, Georgetown, Michigan State, Iowa, UCLA, Louisville, Purdue and Indiana.
Williams is currently rated as the No. 35 player in the 2017 class by Rivals. His commitment now frees up Pitino and his staff to shoot big with the rest of the 2017 class.
