Louisville has opened the third week of October as a 4-point underdog for Saturday’s contest against unbeaten and sixth-ranked Miami.
Assuming the spread holds, it’ll be just the fifth time that the Cardinals have been an underdog under the direction of head coach Jeff Brohm, and just the second time when playing as the home team. Louisville kicked off as a 6.5-point home dog against Notre Dame last season. They would go on to stomp the Fighting Irish, 33-20.
Overall, U of L is 2-2 straight up when playing as an underdog under Brohm. They are 0-1 in such situations this season, losing by seven as a 6.5-point underdog at Notre Dame on Sept. 28.
Louisville and Miami will kick things off inside L&N Stadium at noon on Saturday, with the Schnellenberger Trophy — in addition to the Hurricanes’ perfect season — on the line. ABC will have the television coverage.
