Wayne Blackshear went a long way towards shedding the sarcastic "Big Game Wayne" nickname that some Louisville fans had assigned him by scoring 22 points to lead Louisville to a 64-55 win over No. 14 Ohio State in the Big Ten-ACC Challenge.
Blackshear connected on 4-of-8 3-point attempts and tied for the team lead in steals with three. But perhaps more important than any of that was the fact that he committed just one foul in a game bogged down by a myriad of second half whistles.
Quickie five-point summary:
1. The crowd was tremendous for a first game in December.
2. Terry Rozier hit the two biggest shots of the game despite suffering an obviously dislocated pinkie a few minutes earlier.
3. Rozier and Chris Jones turned the ball over a combined nine times. That can't happen.
4. It's unreal how good these guys are at defense this early on in a season.
5.
Still a ways to go, but these guys could be awfully good.
