Maybe less 3’s?

It was more of the same for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in a 68-80 loss to the Virginia Cavaliers. It was a mid-day tipoff which many fans may not have seen — which isn’t a bad thing.
We’ll keep this nice and simple because there’s no reason to dive deep into a game that was never in doubt for Virginia. The Irish shot an incredibly lousy 1-13 from 3-point land in the first half. Yes... that’s 7.5% from deep. Neither Prentiss Hubb nor Cormac Ryan scored a single point in the half, but Juwan Durham was doing well with 10 points. Notre Dame was 9-17 otherwise — which is maddening on many levels.
Ryan ended up being the leading scorer for the Irish with 16 points in the second half after that scoreless first half. Juwan Durham was essentially shutdown, and the Irish finished the game just 5-22 from three.
It was absolutely a terrible effort against a really good Virginia team. Jay Huff lead all scorers with 18 points, and despite missing his last five shots, Sam Hauser added another 15.
Notre Dame did cut the lead to 10 a couple of times in the last five minutes of the game, but Virginia answered with a mini-run to help close the game out.
It sucked, and this team remains winless in the ACC. I have no other comment at this time and may the gods not desert us forever.
