Duke point guard Quinn Cook and Syracuse wing C.J. Fair both have say “thanks, but no thanks” to World University Games tryouts. Both Cook and Fair not only had a good chance to make the team, but start for Team U.S.A. in Kazan, Russia (July 7-16)
Word is, Cook missed the first summer semester of school and didn’t want to miss the second one. The reality is, if Cook can continue to improve, he has a outside shot of leaving Duke early, so go get that degree, son.
Fair simply said he would not participate for “a personal reason.”
However, don’t sweat it ACC fans, there is plenty of current and future ACC players trying out. They are Duke’s Rodney Hood, North Carolina’s P.J. Hairston, Virginia’s Joe Harris, then Notre Dame’s Eric Atkins and Jerian Grant.
