The Cardinals take a hit in their wide receiver depth.
Tuesday evening, the Louisville Cardinals took a hit to their wide receiver depth chart as senior Ja’Quay Savage announced that he will transfer out of the Cardinals program.
He made the announcement via Twitter:
I want to thank the Card fans for the great memories these past 3 yrs. When I came to The Ville you all opened yours arms like I was family.

Ja’Quay, who legally changed his last name to Savage from Williams, transferred to Louisville from the Texas A&M Aggies. When he announced that he’d come to Louisville, there was much excitement because he was a former 4-star recruit. However, things didn’t really pan out on the field at Louisville for Savage. Having sat out the 2014 season, Savage played in nine games (starting six) in 2015 for the Cardinals, catching 12 passes for 135 yards and one touchdown. He battled injuries for most of the 2016 season, and did not record a single catch.
Ja’Quay earned his undergraduate degree from Louisville, so he would be eligible to play right away wherever he ends up transferring to.
Best of luck to Ja’Quay going forward.
