The Cardinal opened up their first year in ACC play on the road, facing a long-time foe, defeating the Golden Bears 89-81. Stanford went up by as many as 20, but Cal made a furious comeback to cut the lead down to six with 1:21 left in the game. Stanford's Maxime Raynaud and Jaylen Blakes each scored 20 points to lead the Cardinal. Raynaud also had three rebounds, two assists, and five blocks. Blakes filled out the box score with six assists, two rebounds, two blocks, and a steal. Andrej Stojakovic scored a game-high 25 points for Cal.
