Syracuse is going into tonight's matchup with Clemson shorthanded and Mike Hopkins talks about team fatigue.
The Syracuse Orange men's basketball team is still in search of it's first ACC win of the season tonight versus Clemson.
If the team achieves that tonight, it will be without backup guard Frank Howard, who will miss tonight's game. This is his second missed game of the season. Howard sat out the Orange's most recent contest versus Miami with some kind of illness. He said that he hopes to be back "in a week or two," and is not contagious.
That leaves the bench shorter than normal and Kaleb Joseph with an opportunity to snag some minutes, especially with Coach Mike Hopkins talking about efforts to save guys later in games.
"The two tough road games were wars. We tried to play more guys in the first half against Miami, everybody got in the game. Tried to get some rest for these guys. But at the end of the day, you've gotta give Miami some credit as they put pressure on us the whole game, wearing us down
Another burning question has been Tyler Lydon's perceived lack of confidence. Hopkins all but admitted it's something mental with the freshman.
You can't just shoot a shot because people are telling you to shoot it. You gotta shoot it because you're confident, you're going to shoot to make it. You've got that mindset. That's really critical."
The Orange and Tigers will tip-off at 8 p.m. on WatchESPN for those outside of the Syracuse area. The game will be telecast on CW6 in Syracuse.
