Numbers wise the match-up hasn't changed much since the last meeting. UNC's offense versus NC State's defense should be more than enough to win the game. NC State's offense versus UNC's defense is enough to keep it close. Add to the mix NC State's offensive rebounding and general interior size, this isn't the best match-up for UNC.
Taking a look at the ACC numbers, NC State is at 109.6 in offensive efficiency and a league worst 113.7 on the defensive end. On the flip side UNC has the ACC's 2nd best defensive efficiency in ACC games and 3rd best in offensive efficiency. All that says is UNC is 11-3 and NC State is 4-10 for a reason. It also may not matter when these two teams get together.
The Wolfpack have size to control the boards, a point guard that can drive and enough three point shooting should enough players get hot to make this a tough out for the Tar Heels. That is why UNC needs to exploit every bit of NC State's bad defensive numbers. UNC showed against Pitt and Miami what happens when the offense locks in and has balance. Consistency hasn't been a strong suit of this team but UNC can show some with another solid offensive performance.
