Malik Williams is rising up the ranks as one of the best big men
Malik Williams, a 7-foot center from Fort Wayne Snider, is rising in the ranks as not only one of the best players in the Midwest, but one of the best in the nation. Recently, Williams participated in the Junior-Senior all-star series in Bloomington, Indiana, and gave an update on his recruitment. He recently visited the University of Louisville prior to the games in Bloomington, and came away with good remarks to say about his visit.
Here's what he had to say about his visit:
“I liked it down there. It’s a nice campus. Coach (Rick) Pitino (and his staff) just said that they like my personality, my versatility and how I can help the program,” Williams said. “I think I’d fit in nicely there. They would help me play my game and develop my game.”
To go along with his offer from Louisville, he holds offers from Purdue, Indiana, UCLA, Xavier, Illinois, and Michigan State. Currently, the 247 Composite has him listed as the No. 40 players in the nation, and the No. 5 center. Despite the remarks he's made in regards to how he feels about the Cardinals program, it looks like Indiana is going to be the school to beat out in his recruitment:
“It’s always a great experience, a great time down there,” he said. “My relationship is really strong with IU. They’re a great program, and they have great coaches.”
Generally, I try not to get too excited about recruiting until they sign on the dotted line. Regardless, it is nice to hear these types of comments from one of the nation's best players.
