Ugh.
Desi Rodriguez made a driving lay-up in the final seconds and Quentin Snider missed a three-pointer at the buzzer as Louisville fell to visiting Seton Hall 79-77 Sunday afternoon at the KFC Yum Center.
The loss snapped Louisville’s 22 game home winning streak against non-conference opponents. U of L has been beaten at home by a non-con opponent just twice in its last 60 games at the KFC Yum Center.
Louisville struggled to contain Rodrgiuez all evening. The senior, who entered game averaging a team-high 18.7 ppg, connected on 12 of 18 shots on his way to a game-high 29 points.
Turnovers at inopportune moments plagued Louisville all night. The Cardinals finished with 16 giveaways, 11 of which were steals made by Seton Hall. Three Cardinal starters — Deng Adel, V.J. King and Ray Spalding — each turned the ball over four times.
Adel led Louisville with 20 points. Snider chipped in 14 and King 15.
This was an especially difficult loss for Louisville to stomach when you consider that the Cardinals will play just one more non-conference game against a team that appears likely to finish the season with a top 50 RPI ranking.
