Now comes the interesting part.

It was fun for about eight minutes, but whether you were wearing red or blue Thursday night, you knew what was coming.

Kentucky closed the first half on a 14-2 run, carried a 20-point lead into the locker room, and was never really challenged in the second half on their way to a 95-76 victory over Louisville in the annual meeting between the two in-state rivals.

The Wildcats were paced by senior guard Antonio Reeves, who buried 4-of-5 three-point attempts and dropped a game-high 30 points. As a team, UK went 12-of-15 from deep, coming up one three-pointer shy of matching their record in a game against Louisville.

Skyy Clark led a trio double figure Louisville scorers with 20 points. Mike James added 12 points, while Brandon Huntley-Hatfield produced a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds.

Kenny Payne said this week that he just wanted to beat John Calipari by 1-point, and in the end he did ... in the second half. So that’s something.

On to whatever the next day or two holds.
