Early Friday morning, 2016 5-star, and former priority target, Tyus Battle decommitted from Michigan. He will officially visit Syracuse this weekend.
Jim Boeheim and the Syracuse Orange men's basketball program have been after Tyus Battle since his freshman year of high school. SU was the first major D-1 program to offer Battle a scholarship, which seemed to gain them some leverage from the beginning. In May, Battle surprisingly committed to Michigan after officially visiting Ann Arbor.
The 6-6 guard will officially visit Syracuse this weekend after re-opening his recruitment earlier today, according to Scout's Evan Daniels. He cancelled his previously scheduled official visit after committing to the Wolverines.
It seemed as if throughout the 5-star's recruitment that Syracuse led, and that may be true again.
Battle, who is regarded as a Top 20 player in the class, has previously visited Duke, Louisville and Michigan. After this weekend, he will have one official visit remaining. Duke, Syracuse, Louisville, Ohio State and Michigan were his Top 5 before his UM commitment.
Gary Battle, Tyus' father, has said through his son's recruitment that a commitment could come at any time.
Don't be shocked if Syracuse gets the nod this weekend.
