The top seeds of the NCAA Tournament field has been announced and UNC is the #1 seed in the East Regional. The Tar Heels who won the ACC regular season and tournament championships will start in Raleigh with the regional semifinals and finals being held in Philadelphia.
UNC joins Kansas(South), Virginia(Midwest) and Oregon(West) on the top seed line.
In five previous tournaments with UNC as a #1 seed have ended in two NCAA titles, a Final Four and a pair of Elite Eight appearances.

In the East Region, UNC will open on Thursday against the winner of Florida Gulf Coast and Farleigh Dickinson. The 8/9 match-up is between Southern Cal and Providence.
Rounding out the top four in the East are #2 Xavier, #3 West Virginia and #4 Kentucky. Indiana is the #5 seed meaning a potential Sweet Sixteen game versus either the Wildcats or the Hoosiers.
Among the ACC teams reaching the field are the aforementioned Cavaliers as the #1 seed in the Midwest along with #10 seeded Syracuse. Miami got the #3 seed in the South where Kansas is the #1. Duke is the #4 seed in the West and drew #13 seeded UNC Wilmington in the 1st Round. Notre Dame and Pitt are in the East as the #6 and #10 seeds respectively. In all seven ACC teams made the field.
