The ACC is loaded at several positions this year but All Things ACC debates on which quarterback, besides Deshaun Watson, would you want to run your program heading into the season.
Watson is certainly the front-runner on everyone’s ballot, but with his name removed from consideration in this topic, who would you choose?
Brad Kaaya – Miami
Threw for 3,238 yards, 16 touchdowns, and five interceptions last year, while completing over 61 percent of his passes.
Sean Maguire – Florida State
Threw for 1,520 yards and 11 touchdowns on the year, completeing 59 percent of his throws.
Nate Peterman – Pittsburgh
Peterman threw for 2,287 yards this past season, tossing 20 touchdowns and only eight interceptions on the season. He completed 61.5 percent of his passes last year
Eric Dungey – Syracuse
Completed almost 60 percent of his passes for 1,298 yards and 11 touchdowns last year.
Lamar Jackson – Louisville
Jackson should be in line for a big year, as many expect. Last season, he threw for 1,840 yards, 12 touchdowns, and eight interceptions, completing just under 55 percent of his throws.
Deondre Francois – Florida State
Red-shirt freshman that is battling it out with Maguire this season for the starting job position.
Patrick Towles – Boston College
Towles is a Kentucky transfer that started in 10 games last year, throwing for 2,148 yards, nine touchdowns, and 14 interceptions.
Mitch Trubisky – North Carolina
Trubisky played in a nine games last year and completed 85 percent of his passes, throwing for six touchdowns as well last year. He will be the full-time starter this year, replacing Marquise Williams from last season.
Justin Thomas – Georgia Tech
Thomas threw for 1,345 yards last year for the Yellow Jackets, completing only 41 percent of his passes in the heavy run-game for Georgia Tech.
Thomas Sirk – Duke
Sirk is still injured but could be the guy heading into Week 1 possibly. But last year, the not only threw for over 2,625 yards and 16 touchdowns, but also rushed for over 800 yards and eight touchdowns as well.
Matt Johns – Virginia
The senior quietly had a solid year for the Cavaliers last year, throwing for for 2,810 yards, 20 touchdowns, and 17 interceptions. The turnovers will need to decline but he threw over 400 attempts and completed 61 percent of his passes.
