Ben Frye, a 6-foot-3, 240-pound defensive end from Dublin, OH announced that he would be heading south, becoming the latest recruit to join the Duke Gang for 2017.
Frye made his announcement on Monday over social media, saying:
“I’d like to thank all of the coaches and programs who have expressed interest in me and have given me opportunities for a great future and athletic career. Thank you to my family for helping me with such an important decision. I’m excited to announce my commitment to play football at Duke University! #GoBlueDevils #DukeGang”
Frye mentioned that Duke was a school that he was looking for academically, as he wants to head into the field of physical therapy. But he also enjoyed what the staff had in mind for him, as it fits his style of play.
“It really fit what I was looking for academically in physical therapy,” Frye told AllThingsACC. “The coaching staff is young and hungry. The program itself is for sure up and coming and it fits my style of a smaller student population with a beautiful campus.”
The Ohio native held offers from schools like Western Michigan, Wake Forest, Navy, Air Force, Eastern Michigan, Ball State, Boston College, Ohio, Akron, Yale, Toledo, Bowling Green, Eastern Kentucky, Buffalo, Robert Morris, Central Michigan, and Colorado State.
