Early Sunday morning, Syracuse received a commitment from 7-foot-2 transfer center Paschal Chukwu.

Early Sunday morning, NunesMagician.com confirmed that Syracuse has received a commitment from Providence Friars transfer center Paschal Chukwu. The news was first reported by Stacey Davis.

This now puts the Orange over their scholarship limit of 10. When the NCAA sanctions came down on the university, Syracuse was docked three scholarships for four seasons. Once SU backed off Thomas Bryant, it appeared the coaching staff had made the decision to start the scholarship reductions beginning in the 2015-16 season.

The 7-foot-2 center puts Syracuse at 11 total scholarships, meaning the reductions will start in the 2016-17 season and last through the 2019-20 season. The reductions are subject to change depending on if SU's appeal is successful.

Paschal tweeted Saturday night that his weekend visit to Syracuse "went really well."

The former Friar visited Iona, Kansas, Michigan State, Nebraska, Syracuse and Virginia before choosing SU.

When Paschal is eligible next season, DaJuan Coleman and Chinonso Obokoh will be the only two centers on the roster. Both will be seniors, depending on the NCAA ruling regarding Obokoh's eligibility.  The newest member of the men's basketball program will have a chance to make an immediate impact with the lack of big-man depth.

Chukwu will have to sit out one season due to NCAA transfer rules. He will then have three years of eligibility remaining.

Below is a video of current Syracuse Orange point guard Kaleb Joseph playing alongside Chukwu at a Providence basketball camp.
