Battle was expected to officially visit Syracuse later this month. NunesMagician.com has learned that Battle has cancelled the visit. His recruitment is "definitely over," a source confirmed.
Jim Boeheim and Syracuse were the first major D-1 program to offer Battle, which occurred his freshman year. It's no secret that SU put everything they had into Battle's recruitment, but in the end came up short.
Gary Battle, Tyus' father, has stated throughout his son's recruitment that a commitment could come at anytime. Well, today was the day.
Just over a month ago, Tyus announced his final 8 schools which included Connecticut, Duke, Kentucky, Louisville, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State and Syracuse. Battle officially visited Michigan over the weekend, and clearly fell in love with what he saw.
Syracuse still has offers out to 5-star guard Kobi Simmons, 4-star guard Alterique Gilbert, 4-star center James Banks and 4-star PF/C Sedee Keita.
Mathew Moyer remains the only Syracuse commit for the class of 2016.
Last Friday, the Orange extended an offer to 2016 guard Kevin Huerter for the 2017 season, which would require a year of prep school for the 6-5 guard.
