The Syracuse Orange men’s basketball team will host the Georgetown Hoyas on January 9, per release. A time has yet to be determined. The matchup will mark the 96th time Syracuse and Georgetown have squared off against one another.
Georgetown edged Syracuse last season 89-79 at Capital One Arena. Syracuse is 2-3 against Georgetown since leaving the Big East. The Orange lead the all-time series 51-44.
The meeting will occur between two ACC games as Syracuse hosts Florida State on Jan. 5/6 and Clemson on Jan. 12/13.
Patrick Ewing returns for his fourth year as head coach of his alma mater. The Hoyas went 15-17 a season ago, losing in the first round of the Big East Tournament. Georgetown is projected to finish at the bottom of the Big East this season after a bevy of players left the program, including Mac McClung who transferred to Texas Tech.
UPDATE: Georgetown isn’t the only team added to the schedule today, either. The Athletic reported that Rider will be a non-conference opponent on a date TBD. Additionally, we have confirmation that the Bryant game will happen on Nov. 27 at 3 p.m. ET.
