Louisville scored the game's first 13 points and never looked back on their way to a workmanlike 74-51 win over visiting Southern Illinois Wednesday night.
Ten different Cardinals scored at least two points in the game, led by Mangok Mathiang's 15. Deng Adel also gave one of the best performances of his sophomore season to date, recording his first career double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
Though U of L was just 4-of-17 from beyond the arc, the Cardinals used their superior size and speed to force 17 Southern Illinois turnovers and outrebound the Salukis by 12.
I could write more about this tonight, but this felt like the most uneventful contest of the season to date. The defense was great per usual, the offense started hot, went stagnant, and then was just ok, and nothing particularly crazy or funny happened. Basically, this will be the "oh yeah, I totally forgot about that" game when we look back at things three months from now. And that's fine.
