UNC Basketball: Two Tar Heels voted among top players

Joel Berry and Cameron Johnson made the shortlist of the top players in college basketball according to an anonymous poll of coaches.

Earlier this month, we told you it was time for people to start respecting Joel Berry. Well that respect has started to trickle in.

But Berry isn’t the only UNC player that is starting to earn some more respect.  Cam Johnson also started to gain some respect. The two Tar Heels were voted among the top players in the country by a poll done by CBS Sports .

CBS runs an article often titled “Candid Coaches” where they go around over the summer asking different coaches their opinions on different stories.  In this specific edition, they asked coaches who they thought would be the top college basketball player for the 2017-18 season.

The results varied but two Tar Heels were named in the poll.  Berry came in at fourth with 7.6 percent of the vote, landing him fourth.  Johnson came out in a tie for 11th with 2percent of the vote.

There were fifteen total players who received votes, and every player listed received at least two votes.

Having one player on the list is great, but having two is pretty good for Carolina.  You can bet Roy Williams is happy about it.

In what many people outside the ACC believe could be a rebuilding year, the Heels still have incredible talent.

As we all know, Carolina is coming off of a national title, so they will be hoping to repeat. This poll goes to show that other coaches believe that the Heels have plenty talent to do so.

The Heels tied with their arch rival Duke, as well as Arizona for the most players on the list, with two. Marvin Bagley, the newest addition for Duke appeared as did Grayson Allen who decided to return for his senior year.

Two other ACC players made the list, Bonzie Colson of Notre Dame, and Bruce Brown of Miami. If you do not remember Brown, he torched the Heels for thirty points in Miami this season.

Some other players on the list include: Michael Porter, Miles Bridges, Jalen Brunson, Mo Bamba, and Devonte Graham.

As if Tar Heel fans were not excited enough for basketball season, this should throw some fuel on the fire.

We will get the opportunity to see these two dynamic guards, along with the ultimate Swiss Army Knife, Theo Pinson, play together.

According to the other college coaches, Tar Heel fans have a lot to look forward to this year, including getting to watch two top players in college
