North Carolina extends scholarship offer to elite point guard in class of 2019.

The North Carolina men’s basketball program handed out its second scholarship offer for the class of 2019 on Friday night.

Ashton Hagans joins four-star point guard Jeremiah Francis as the Tar Heels’ first two official targets in the 2019 class.

Hagans, a 6-foot-4, 190-pound prospect out of Covington, Georgia, is entering his junior season at Newton High School. North Carolina head coach Roy Williams was in attendance in April when Hagans posted a triple-double.

He averaged 14 points, 11 assists and three steals per game as a sophomore, making him one of the most highly coveted guards in his class.

Along with North Carolina, Hagans holds offers from Baylor, Florida State, Georgia, Iowa State, Kansas, Miami, North Carolina State and Tennessee, among others.

And although Kentucky is yet to offer a scholarship to Hagans, his interest in the Wildcats is said to be very high at this point.

Hagans is the No. 11 prospect in the class of 2019 according to the 247Sports Composite. He’s the No. 2 point guard in the class and the top player in the state of Georgia.

North Carolina fans have to be thrilled that the Tar Heels are wasting no time getting started on the 2019 class, particularly after seeing them hand out offers to three players in the class of 2018 over the past week. Two of those players, Simisola Shittu and Nassir Little, are five-star prospects.

Stick with Keeping It Heel as things continue to heat up on the recruiting trail and we move closer to the start of the 2017-18 college basketball season.
