Miami ranks among the top 20 teams nationally in field goal percentage defense (.391, 16th in the nation), three-point field goal defense (.304, 14th) and scoring defense (63.1, 16th). The Hurricanes’ outside shooting had been a weakness this year (29 percent in ACC play), but they buried 10 of 16 attempts in their most recent outing, an 86-81 win at NC State on Sunday.
Sophomore forward Dewan Huell leads Miami in scoring at 13.6 ppg. Preseason All-ACC selection Bruce Brown leads the team in rebounding (6.9 rpg) and assists (4.1 apg), and is second in scoring at 11.5 ppg. Seven Hurricane players enter Wednesday night’s game averaging 8.0 points per game or better.
