The North Carolina Tar Heels will host seven non-conference games in the Dean Dome for the 2017-18 season.
Just a day after the Atlantic Coast Conference revealed its conference opponent matchups for the 2017-18 season, the Tar Heels have released its non-conference schedule.
UNC will open up their NCAA title defense at home against Northern Iowa on November 10th the Dean E. Smith Center in Chapel Hill. It will be the first time the team takes the court since defeating Gonzaga in the 2017 national championship game.
Just days later they will host Bucknell at the Dean Dome on Nov. 15.
In total, UNC will play 14 games against non-ACC opponents including a special tournament in November.
The Tar Heels are one of 17 teams participating in the PK80 Tournament to honor Nike’s Phil Knight in Portland. They will open play on Thanksgiving day against the University of Portland and then either Arkansas or Oklahoma on Nov. 24th. UNC can also play either Georgetown, Michigan State, UCONN or Oregon on Nov. 26th.

Prior to the tournament, UNC will be on the road to take on Stanford on Nov. 20th.
They will return home to host Michigan in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge on Nov. 29th, followed by home matchups against Tulane (Dec. 3), Western Carolina (Dec. 6) and Wofford (Dec. 20).
UNC’s schedule also includes games at the Spectrum Center in Charlotte on Dec. 1 against Davidson and at Tennessee on Dec. 17.
The Tar Heels will wrap up non-conference play by taking on Ohio State on Dec. 23 in the CBS Sports Classic in New Orleans.
According to GoHeels, this would be the first time UNC’s non-conference schedule would finish up before Christmas. Barring any last-minute additions, that looks like it will be the case.
